SUMMARY:Lent Midweek Series: Living in Law and Gospel
DESCRIPTION:Join us each Wednesday from March 12 through April 9 for our five-week midweek Lenten series\, “Living in Law and Gospel.” We begin with a community meal at 6:15 PM\, followed by a 7:15 PM worship service featuring a hymn sing. This special series focuses on the biblical distinction between God’s law and the gospel of grace\, guiding us to recognize our sin while taking hold of the hope offered in Christ. Come prepare your heart for Easter as we delve into Scripture\, prayer\, and reflective music together. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn this season of repentance and renewal\, the law confronts us with our shortcomings and our need for a Savior. Yet the gospel reminds us that Jesus Christ has fulfilled the law on our behalf\, inviting us to receive forgiveness and the promise of new life. Each week\, we will explore a distinct aspect of this central teaching\, drawing from passages in Romans\, Ephesians\, Galatians\, and more. We will see how the law functions as a mirror\, revealing our need for mercy\, and how the gospel assures us of God’s unfailing love. Through hymns\, readings\, and a time of reflection\, we will be renewed by the power of Christ’s cross and resurrection. \n\n\n\nWhether you’re a long-standing member or a first-time visitor\, we welcome you to share in this meaningful journey. Join us for dinner at 6:15 PM\, experience fellowship with friends old and new\, then come to the sanctuary at 7:15 PM for worship that centers on God’s Word and our response of faith. May these midweek services lead us all to a deeper appreciation of the gift of salvation as we anticipate the joy of Easter. We look forward to growing in grace with you this Lent!

DESCRIPTION:Jesus gives us forgiveness\, life\, and salvation through Word and Sacrament ministry at the Divine Service every week on Sundays at Saint Peter’s Lutheran Church in Door County. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Divine Service usually begins with the confession of our sins. After we confess our sins\, the pastor proclaims Christ’s forgiveness to us in Holy Absolution. \n\n\n\nThe Divine Service continues with hearing God’s Word through readings from Scripture and a sermon. After receiving God’s Word\, we express our faith in God through the recitation of a creed (a statement of our beliefs)\, the giving of offerings\, and prayer. \n\n\n\nThen\, we receive Christ’s mercy through the Sacrament of the Altar (Holy Communion). This is a very holy observation\, and we believe that Christ unites Himself to us both bodily and spiritually through it. \n\n\n\nWe welcome visitors to attend Divine Service at Saint Peter’s Lutheran Church. \n\n\n\nLearn more about worship at Saint Peter’s.
