At St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, we are a congregation of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS). We believe that choosing a church is about much more than finding an appealing worship style, convenient location, or good programs. Christians need a church where God’s Word is faithfully preached and where Christ gives His gifts through Baptism, Absolution, and the Lord’s Supper.
For that reason, when our members travel or move to another community, we ordinarily encourage them to seek out a faithful LCMS congregation.

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church – Sherman, IL
Just north of Springfield in Sherman, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church is a particularly good option for visitors to the Springfield area. Thought it is located in Sherman, it sits only a few miles from the corporate boundary of Springfield.
Good Shepherd is an LCMS congregation centered upon the preaching of God’s Word and the administration of the Sacraments. The congregation describes itself as “rich in the Word, reverent in worship, abundant with mercy, unapologetically Lutheran.”
The Divine Service is held Sunday at 9:00 a.m., followed by Sunday School and Adult Bible Class at 10:30 a.m. Good Shepherd also operates a Lutheran preschool serving families from Sherman and the greater Springfield area.

Trinity Lutheran Church – Springfield, IL
Located in downtown Springfield, Trinity Lutheran Church is one of the city’s historic Lutheran congregations.
Trinity dates to 1841 and is a member congregation of the LCMS Central Illinois District. In addition to its congregational ministry, Trinity operates Trinity Lutheran School.
Its downtown location also makes Trinity especially convenient for visitors staying near the Illinois State Capitol and Springfield’s many Abraham Lincoln historic sites.

Our Savior’s Lutheran Church – Springfield, IL
Our Savior’s Lutheran Church is another LCMS congregation serving Springfield.
Located on the west side of the city, Our Savior’s has a large Christian education ministry that includes Our Savior’s Lutheran School, serving children from early childhood through eighth grade.
The congregation offers multiple weekend Divine Services as well as Sunday Bible study and Christian education.

Depending upon where you live or are staying, several other Missouri Synod congregations may be closer to you.
Concordia Lutheran Church is located at 2300 E. Wilshire Road on Springfield’s southeast side.
Holy Trinity Lutheran Church is located at 119 N. 15th Street, east of downtown Springfield.
Immanuel Lutheran Church is located at 2750 E. Sangamon Avenue on the northeast side of Springfield.

Sunday travel can sometimes make attending church more complicated, but we encourage Christians to make receiving Christ’s Word and Sacrament a priority even when away from home.
