Advent Worship Series | Emmanuel: God With Us
December 4 @ 19:15 – 20:00
Join us for ‘Emmanuel: God with Us’—an Advent series exploring God’s promise, fulfillment, and enduring presence among us.
As we enter the sacred season of Advent, we warmly invite you to join us for a special three-week midweek series titled “Emmanuel: God with Us.” This series will explore the profound mystery of God’s presence among us through His Son, Jesus Christ. Each week, we’ll delve into Scripture, lift our voices in song, and reflect on themes of sin, grace, redemption, and the sacramental presence of God in Word and Sacrament.
Week 1: God’s Presence Promised
Date: December 4
In our first gathering, we’ll focus on God’s gracious promise to be with His people despite our sinfulness. Through the prophetic words of Isaiah 7:10-14 and their fulfillment in Matthew 1:18-23, we’ll witness how God pledged to bridge the separation caused by sin. Our hymn, “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel” (LSB 357) echoes our longing for His promised presence. The sermon, “God’s Grace Amidst Our Sin,” will highlight how God’s grace meets us in our unworthiness, offering redemption through Christ who comes to us in Word and Sacrament to forgive and restore.
Week 2: God’s Presence Fulfilled
Date: December 11
The second week centers on the incarnation—God becoming flesh in Jesus Christ. Reflecting on John 1:1-14 and Colossians 1:15-20, we’ll marvel at the Word made flesh entering our sinful world to redeem us. We’ll sing “Savior of the Nations, Come” (LSB 332) to prepare our hearts. The sermon, “The Incarnate Word and Our Redemption,” will emphasize that through Jesus’ incarnation and the Means of Grace, we receive the blessings of forgiveness, life, and salvation.
Week 3: God’s Presence Continues
Date: December 18
In our final week, we’ll explore how God’s presence remains with us today through the Holy Spirit and the Means of Grace. Scriptures from Matthew 28:18-20 and John 14:15-27 assure us of His enduring presence. The hymn “Come, Thou Long-Expected Jesus” (LSB 338) will guide our worship. The sermon, “Emmanuel in Word and Sacrament Today,” will encourage us to find solace in God’s sacramental presence in Baptism and the Lord’s Supper, where He offers forgiveness and strength as we await Christ’s return.
We hope you’ll join us for this meaningful journey through Advent as we prepare our hearts for the coming of our Savior. Together, we’ll experience the hope, peace, and joy that come from knowing Emmanuel—God with us.
May this Advent season be a time of reflection and renewal for you and your loved ones. We look forward to worshiping with you!
