Greg Zelek In Concert
Experience one of America’s remarkable young organists live in Door County.
Greg Zelek, Principal Organist of the Madison Symphony Orchestra, brings the St. Peter’s pipe organ to life for one special evening.
About Greg Zelek
Greg Zelek is one of America’s leading young concert organists, praised by PBS Wisconsin as “extraordinary in the classical music world.” He serves as Principal Organist of the Madison Symphony Orchestra and as the Elaine and Nicholas Mischler Curator of the Overture Concert Organ, where his performances regularly draw audiences of more than 1,000 people. He is also Northrop Organist at the University of Minnesota and curator of the organ series for the Jacksonville Symphony.
A graduate of The Juilliard School, Zelek earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees as well as an Artist Diploma while studying with renowned organist Paul Jacobs. He was the first organist to receive Juilliard’s prestigious Kovner Fellowship and has won prizes in numerous national and international organ competitions. The Diapason named him among its “20 Under 30,” recognizing the most accomplished young artists in the field.
Known for performing solo programs from memory, Zelek combines remarkable virtuosity with an engaging, energetic style that has helped introduce new audiences to the pipe organ. He performs throughout the United States as both a recitalist and orchestral soloist.
This special concert brings Zelek to the historic pipe organ of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Forestville for an intimate performance in one of Door County’s beautiful historic churches.
